Officially known as the Republic of Paraguay, is located in the heart of South America, it is a Mediterranean country, that is, it does not have access to the sea.
It is bordered by Argentina to the south and southwest, Brazil to the east and northeast, and Bolivia to the northwest. Paraguay lies on both banks of the Paraguay River, which runs through the center of the country from north to south, dividing the country into two well-differentiated regions.
On the one hand, the eastern region, with a landscape of meadows, hills, tropical forests, semitropical lakes, the other, western region or Chaco, which is characterized by its savannas, forests and marshy areas. It has an area of more than 400,000 km2 (larger than Germany) with a population of only 7 million inhabitants. This country is divided between being a large producer of grains worldwide and that of small farmers, which usually grows organically.
The official languages are Spanish and Guaraní. Most Paraguayans are bilingual, although apart from Asunción (the capital), they prefer to speak in Guaraní. Guaraní is an ancestral language of the natives. Paraguay is the only country that has an indigenous language as the official language.
